Job Description
AECOM is seeking actively seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern to be based in Rocky Hill, CT. This position is designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic area and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning.
The responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to:
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD MEP.
Water distribution system hydraulic modeling, analysis, and design.
Sewer collection system evaluation and design.
Water/wastewater treatment evaluation and design.
Pump station evaluation and design.
Assist in the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses related to floodplain management studies and a variety of water resource projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Must have completed 2 years of study in the applicable program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic track with an emphasis in water resources, water or wastewater treatment, conveyance/pipelines is highly desirable.
A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering concepts through coursework or work experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
Strong logic skills and writing skills.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline-driven environment.
Detail-oriented while still able to understand and comply with the big picture/goals of a project.
Ability to multi-task.
Accurate documentation of time and effort.
Valid Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

Relocation assistance and/or per diem is not offered for this position.
This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Rocky Hill, CT . The selected candidate must be available to work in Rocky Hill on a scheduled basis.
