AECOM is seeking a full-time team-oriented Acoustical Consultant to integrate into its San Diego, CA Acoustics team. Candidate would be expected to have the following duties:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Deploy and supervise sound pressure level (SPL) monitoring instruments in the field; conduct and document attended SPL measurements; download and process collected data for report or presentation content inclusion.
Perform predictive analyses with spreadsheet-based tools and commercially available software (EASE, CadnaA, TNM, TAP).
Report to senior-level acousticians and noise control engineers, providing support in the preparation of standalone acoustical reports and relevant portions of environmental permitting documents and building design technical memoranda.
While the position typically adheres to a traditional 40-hour per week work schedule, some night and weekend assignments will be required or expected; and, some travel will be required throughout southern California and, as warranted, at client project site locations (or other needs) across the U.S.

Potential project work on or supporting:
Support to Del Mar Fairgrounds noise studies
CEQA noise sections of IS/MNDs and EIR documents to support AECOM clients across California
FERC Resource Report 9 (RR9) noise quality sections (analyses and fieldwork) for AECOM natural gas developer clients
HVAC and interior acoustics analyses for new building and renovation projects across the U.S., including performance spaces and sport venues”
Bachelors degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or acoustical science (or closely related)
2+ years of experience
Completed academic coursework and/or relevant professional work experience pertaining to architectural acoustics and mechanical system noise control projects or tasks
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including ability to speak effectively in public
Familiarity with sound and vibration level measurement/monitoring equipment and procedures
Strong Writing skills (samples of work requested for review)
Competence with Excel (database manipulation, mathematical analyses, conditional formatting, etc.)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team (either in-person or remotely)
Experience with CadnaA or SoundPLAN software; and experience with Trane Acoustic Program (TAP) or comparable software and methods for HVAC system noise analysis
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable building information model (BIM) tools and software
Familiarity with current ASHRAE Handbook – HVAC Applications
INCE membership or passed the INCE Fundamentals Exam
Familiarity with building construction and reading architectural plans
Demonstrated participation on multi-disciplinary team(s) for larger environmental, transportation, or building projects
Familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Park Service (NPS), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and/or Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations and guidance with respect to noise
