Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented, energetic technology minded geographic information system (GIS) Specialist for immediate employment in Southern California. The position will be a part of a thriving Federal GIS group within AECOM’s Technology Services Department. The GIS Specialist will operate within the enterprise architecture of our federal clients to develop geospatial solutions and products. A successful candidate will work both independently and in close collaboration with various subject matter experts, AECOM staff, and high-ranking government officials to develop, deploy, and support the highest quality GIS products.

Job Overview:

This position will provide geospatial data management, analysis and modelling, cartographic product development, and technical services to the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) Program.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support for GIS data compliance.

  • Work directly with the IGI&S Manager and staff to validate accurate and up-to-date GIS data.

  • Create and maintain GIS data in an ArcGIS Enterprise environment.

  • Complete data quality reviews of existing/incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, data model compliance, and appropriate metadata.

  • Assist with managing the portfolio of client projects ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, and with quality results.

  • Design, develop, and implement content within Portal for ArcGIS to replace traditional paper and digital map products.

  • Develop and maintain efficient, user-friendly solutions within Portal for ArcGIS, including web maps, web apps, and Site/Hub pages.

  • Develop and manage Portal for ArcGIS, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau dashboards.

  • Create and maintain well organized, user-friendly cartographic products.

  • Efficiently handle ad-hoc data and mapping requirements associated with supporting the IGI&S Program.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in geography, planning, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS)

  • 2 years of GIS experience including ArcGIS Server/Desktop/Pro

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • US Citizen based on need to obtaining a secret clearance.

Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) suite of geospatial data standards.

  • 1 year experience with Department of Defense (DoD) IGI&S Programs

  • Experience with AutoDesk software

  • Must have the ability to work independently and with a team of professionals.

  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
