AECOM Senior Project Manager - Water/Wastewater in San Diego, California

Job Summary

In response to Southern California's continuing water/wastewater and reuse infrastructure needs, AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager with the ability to prepare project pursuit proposals, manage new and ongoing workloads and lead teams. This key role is that of a seller/doer position on projects ranging in contract values from $500k to $1.5m. With a current understanding of industry needs and goals throughout the Southern California Region, will focus on water/wastewater processing, reuse and conveyance projects. Will be responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients with multiple projects.

  • Mentoring staff on multiple projects and programs.

  • Delivering revenues from assigned clients through repeat business based upon flawless project execution.

  • Consistently completing projects within planned profit margins.

  • Managing projects involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors).

  • Establishing new client relationships and securing new work based on existing relationships.

  • Preparing marketing plans related to specific clients, identifying opportunities, leading pursuit strategy development and preparation of proposals and interviews.

  • Preparing/reviewing calculations, design criteria, technical memorandums and research and presenting findings/recommendations to clients.

  • Preparing contract documents, plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules along with construction support to clients.

  • Supporting clients through the full project lifecycle including planning/design/construction/operations, facility evaluations, alternative analysis, cost estimates, drawings, specifications, bid and construction support.

  • Maintaining of project budgets and schedules and managing multi-disciplined project teams and sub-consultants.

Projects will include pipelines, pump stations, water resources, water treatment, wastewater treatment, collections, storage, conveyance, distribution, hydraulics, hydrology, groundwater, reclaimed water, storm water, modeling, planning, design, operations and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

The candidate should be knowledgeable on CA water issues, regulations, funding processes, aware of technological/water industry advancements /trends sufficiently to be able to communicate with clients effectively. Be self-sufficient throughout the industry, have existing contacts for technical assistance and be able to develop new contacts as needed on projects. The candidate should stay abreast of technical advancements and how we can become industry leaders, and then determine how this may benefit clients. The engineering field changes constantly. Assignments are located mainly in Southern California..The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop new work from both existing and new clients and possess a current understanding of industry direction, needs and goals throughout the Southern California Region with an emphasis water/wastewater processing, reuse projects and conveyance projects. Other requirements include:

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering

  • California Professional Engineer - Civil or Mechanical

  • Strong knowledge of California water issues, regulations, funding processes and technological/water industry advancements/trends

  • Possess existing contacts for technical assistance and be able to develop new contacts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in engineering.

  • PMP and/or Envision certification.
