Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Site Safety and Health Lead to assist the Energy team on regional Gas & Electric Projects. This position will be based in San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Participate in construction status meetings, covering all health and safety topics, recommendations, and requests
Maintain a program-wide safety program that is compliant with CALOSHA/FED OSHA/ and other applicable agencies, including initial and recurrent training materials. This includes field construction activity safety programs as well as managed subcontractor safety programs
Maintain the safety component of program procedure manual(s)
Assist as needed in investigating job injuries to identify and verify incident origin and possible work-related hazards
Responsible for establishing and recommending to the client necessary action to investigate unsafe work practices
Participate in client safety meetings and programs as requested
Conduct safety audits or inspections on a routine, unannounced basis
Review and comment to the client on contractor-submitted safety plans ahead of construction activities
Develop and maintain a Safety and OSHA/EM385-1-1 Standards Manual with the following policies and procedures for all locations and facilities:
Emergency Action Plan
Fire Prevention Plan
Exposure Control Plan
Hazardous Communication Policy
Lockout – Tagout Policy
Accident and Injury Reporting
Others as identified
Maintain and inspect all OSHA/EM385-1-1 logs and files for all locations and facilities
Assist in the development of building and campus inspections for code or OSHA/EM385-1-1 violations at all locations and facilities
Review and comment on safety training lesson plans and training materials
Coordinate with the client Training Manager any safety training required by regulations, laws, or policies pertaining to control room and field operations
Perform instructor duties for AECOM employees on safety and health-related topics, coordinating as necessary with the Program Construction Manager.
CALOSHA/Fed OSHA required topics
Red Cross First Aid and CPR
National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course
Inform and update employees at all locations and facilities of new or current safety news, trends, and information by e-mail messages, bulletin boards, or lectures and presentations
Project specific hazards as defined from field THAs
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
BA/BS + 8 years of safety-related experience within the field of Utilities and Construction or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Safety-related experience in utilities (Electrical) construction demolition, with demonstrated and documented expertise preferred.
Experience in the design and deployment of power and construction-centric safety-related procedures.
Ability to travel to other facilities to perform inventory duties using a AECOM provided Vehicle.
For positions with driving responsibilities, Motor Vehicle Records are reviewed as part of AECOM’s background check process to ensure compliance with the Company’s driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications :
High-level certifications, such as CUSP/CHST certification or equivalent, and/or special qualifications, education, and competency, such as Journeyman Lineman/QEW.
Further industry-recognized credentials (i.e., ASP, CSP, CIHT, STSC) are favorable
Effective in both oral and written communications
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint applications
Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment
Small group/classroom presentation experience
Ability to work in a team environment
Additional Information
Relocation assistance and/or per diem is not offered for this position.
This will be a Full Time On-site position.
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization, now or in the future.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $130,000.00 - $150,000.00.
