AECOM SWRMC Hydraulics and Piping Junior Engineer in San Diego, California

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Hydraulics and Piping Junior Engineer to work in Code 254 at SWRMC. The position is located at SWRMC in San Diego, CA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop Troubleshooting plans for hydraulic controllers and piping systems.

  • Verify compliance with systems engineering principles, integration approaches, and accepted Department of the Navy maintenance program fundamentals.

  • Support engineering evaluations of hydraulic and freshwater control systems onboard ships and submarines.

  • Review and evaluate work specifications as requested by the NSA project manager based on technical risk and the quality management plan for the assigned availability.

  • Review non-standard test procedures that are called out in a work specification as required and verify that individual work to test relationships are accurately captured in the ITP.

  • Coordinate with shipboard and waterfront personnel to effect repairs to subject systems. Will require working onboard ships at times.

  • Prepare all required products including certification PowerPoint, CHENG certification memos, and other supporting documents.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (marine, mechanical, naval architecture, ocean, or similar) and at least one (1) year of technical experience beyond college, OR High School diploma and 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs

  • Position may require travel

  • Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate has experience providing engineering services to U.S. Navy or in shipyards.

  • Experience with modern Navy Ship systems a plus (PLCs, electrical controllers, DDG-51, DDG-1000, LCS).

  • Needs to be flexible and a rapid learner.

  • SECRET clearance preferred.
