Electrical Specialist- Staff Designer- NASA

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Technician for immediate employment at our Moffett Federal Airfield office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, those listed below.

  • Work under a licensed electrical engineer, able to fill the role of a small team lead. Independently performs complex technical work utilizing instructions, drawings, schematics, device documentation, computer software, electronic meters, network analyzers, and other tools. Responsible for the completion of each work order assigned or project task. Will be involved in training and advising other technical personnel. Will perform data entry, record keeping, and as-built drawings utilizing computer software. Will perform project and business-level functions.

  • Demonstrate Math skills, including arithmetic, algebra, trig, and calculation used in electrical protection systems.

  • Researches, develops, designs, specifies, and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials.

  • Develops and provide information to construction estimators for electrical construction cost estimates.

  • Organizes and conducts site visits for purposes of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes.

  • Develops, designs, and specifies facility electrical power systems, facility fire alarm, security, communications and other low voltage building systems, and electrical lighting and control systems for facilities at NASA Ames, both for new facilities and existing facility retrofits.

  • Develops, designs, and specifies site electrical power infrastructure for systems up to and including 115kV, and site telecommunications infrastructure, power generation, and distribution systems.

  • Developed electrical system models in software such as SKM, and ETAP.

  • Oversees the execution of the procurement, construction, and other project contractors of the construction, startup, and commissioning of the NASA electrical projects.

  • Acts as AECOM's representative to ensure that project milestones are met. Interfaces as necessary to ensure the project is safely completed on schedule, within budget, and within contract specifications.

  • Represents the Contractor's quality assurance position to the customer, including clarifying findings and recommendations

  • Facilitates the handover of the project to the Building Manager and the operations and maintenance contractor.

  • Holds regular construction meetings with both contractors and the NASA management team to address issues, goals, and action items.

  • Supports overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project-specific objectives and policies.

  • Create, update, and maintain the project submittal, RFI, and Change order logs and all other project-specific quality control reports. Work with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or AA/AS (US) + 6 years of relevant experience or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 6 years of relevant experience or HS/GED + 8 years of relevant experience

  • Valid Drivers License

  • US Citizenship or Green card holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related plus 15 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and /or Revit

Additional Information

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $145,000.
