AECOM Traffic/ ITS Department State Lead for California in San Jose, California

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Traffic / ITS Department State Lead for California for immediate employment in San Jose, CA. This individual will lead / manage the traffic analyst staff in northern and southern California. This individual will also be a creative, highly talented engineer who will provide business development support along with technical and management guidance in the design / engineering of roadway, highway, freeway, pedestrian and bicycle and other transportation infrastructure projects.
The appropriately qualified applicant should be able to demonstrate an established career in traffic modeling and transportation management systems and guiding civil design with a focus on roadway / highway. This position will be responsible for managing and leading a team of traffic analysts, planning, designing, and guiding civil engineering projects, such as highways, freeway, pedestrian and bicycle and other transportation infrastructure projects. The individual would also be responsible for managing tasks as part of a larger surface transportation project and some specific traffic analysis lead projects.
Main responsibilities are:
Manage a team of traffic analysts in northern and southern California.
Initiate business development opportunities with clients and provide business development support to others.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to discuss projects with co-workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, AECOM staff, and the public in meetings and at public events as well as write concise and readable technical reports and documents.
Relevant experience in transportation planning and engineering for multimodal transportation projects.
Supporting a wide range of planning and preliminary engineering projects for roadway, freeway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The successful candidate will assist project managers on various projects involving transportation plans, traffic safety and public involvement, and the overall preparation of CEQA and NEPA compliance documents.
Experience with FHWA, State, and local transportation planning, traffic and environmental processes.
Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving design calculations, analysis, value engineering, writing technical specification and project cost estimate.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered, apply innovative design solution, implementing current technology to meet project design needs.
Provides guidance, mentor and coach to entry level/junior engineers to learn and improve their technical skills.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs (Word, Excel. Outlook, and preferable Project)
Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills

BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
Ideally 20+ years of relevant experience in traffic modelling and transportation management system
