AECOM Bridge Design Engineer I in Santa Fe, New Mexico

We are actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Bridge Engineer for employment in the Santa Fe, New Mexico office. Candidate should have excellent engineering and communication skills, and a desire to contribute to our bridge design team. Work tasks will range from planning, studies, design, inspection and construction engineering with a focus on transportation-related projects in support of the highway, bridge and transit/rail engineering staff. The position will involve primarily office engineering but may involve field assignments from time to time.
Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer, responsibilities include:
Structural design and analysis of highway structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls etc.) of various ranges of complexity
Field related work including site visits, data collection, bridge and sign structure inspections. Load rating of existing structures
Preparing and checking design calculations for bridges and other transportation related structures
Develop structural details, plans, specifications and quantity calculations
Perform shop drawing review
Collaborate with team and other discipline members on project development

Other responsibilities include:
Builds analytic and design skills.
Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
BA/BS in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
Bridge design experience for New Mexico DOT and /or New Mexico municipal projects
Related software skill sets
Experience in highway transit and rail engineering
Project work including culvert and retaining wall design
Ability to perform and check design calculations for bridges and other transportation related structures including culvert and retaining walls
EIT preferred but not required
