AECOM Civil Engineer in Savannah, Georgia
AECOM is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our expanding Ports & Marine Infrastructure team in our Savannah, Georgia office supporting the Georgia Port Authority (GPA). The port authority is one of the largest fastest growing ports.
Georgia’s deepwater ports in Savannah and Brunswick, together with inland terminals in Chatsworth, Bainbridge and Columbus, are Georgia’s gateways to the world. The Port of Savannah, home to the largest single-terminal container facility of its kind in North America, and the fourth busiest container handling facilities in the United States, encompassing more than 1,200 acres and moving millions of tons of containerized cargo annually.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Field inspection and reporting of construction activities
Applying engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical, and timely technical solutions to civil and structural problems in multivariable and multidiscipline project environments
Performing non-routine and complex assignments which may have limited scope or constitute a portion of a larger interrelated project
Collecting, reviewing, and analyzing a variety of engineering data to meet engineering objectives
Conducting site visits and performing inspections of existing infrastructure, verify onsite condition and dimensions
Preparing reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, inspection reports, and designs

- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering university or college + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferably with internship experience in related field, but not a must
Internship and or design experience with heavy industrial terminals, ports, maritime, material handling areas or related projects
Positive attitude and passionate for professional development
Knowledgeable in using IT tools including business and engineering software and applications
Experience working with and interpreting current US design codes
Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D programs
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of multi-disciplinary teams
Permitting, construction inspection, and field investigation experience are considered an asset
Current holder of, or have no restrictions to obtain, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Must be willing to travel to clients and job sites
Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated, willing to learn and tackle challenges
Effective individual contributor with ability to work well in team
