AECOM is actively seeking experienced, creative, highly talented mid to senior-level Construction Inspector with heavy civil and structural construction experience relating to bridges, wall construction, roadways, railroads, ports, and marine construction type projects. This position will primarily support the Georgia Ports Authority, one of the largest fastest-growing, and largest ports in North America. While based at the AECOM Savannah office this position will service projects throughout the region

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Onsite representative tacking of daily construction progress and in coordination with AECOM Construction Manager
Responsible for the inspection and reporting on all phases of the contract and assures adherence to contract plans, specifications, ancillary documents, and acceptable work practices.
Interpret plans, specifications, building codes, standards, and federal, state, and local legislation regulations to become thoroughly familiar with job requirements to assure compliance.
Reviews and investigates Change Order claims for accuracy and provides recommendations to AECOM Construction Manager and client. Participates in Change Order review meetings.
Participates in planning, scheduling, and timing of long-range and day-to-day construction and phases thereof.
Inspects all phases of the work in progress from beginning to end of the project.
Monitor performance of testing.
Inspects operations, premises, work premises, and work practices for conformance with safety rules and regulations.
Estimates percentage of work completed,, and makes or reviews inventories of quality and value of construction materials on hand and in place.
Ensures that materials incorporated into the construction work are in compliance with plans and specifications and that items requiring laboratory testing are tested before use on the project.
Prepares deficiency lists for items to be corrected and follows up to assure timely corrections.
Prepares, and submits daily inspection, and construction progress reports.
Maintains records of departures from original plans and specifications for the preparation of final "as built" records.
Reviews and checks contractor's shop drawings.
High School Diploma
6+ years of civil works management experience or related technical fields conducting Quality Assurance surveillance and construction project monitoring.
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/clients are security sensitive.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays when needed.
Physically able, with or without accommodation, to work and walkin outdoor/construction site environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, noise, and moisture. Position requires often standing/walking; occasionally perform repetitive bending and stooping, operation of vehicles, climbing of stairs, keyboard/mouse operations, repetitive or fine hand movements, work alone in isolated/remote areas, and lifting less than 25 pounds; rarely working with arms above shoulder level, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), working at heights, working in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, working in confined spaces, and lifting of 25 - 50 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment.
