Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Bridge Engineer to be based in Savanna, GA.

This position is expected to begin in April 2021.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Assist in the design of transportation bridge engineering projects

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues

  • Preparing and checking design calculations for bridges and other transportation-related structures

  • Preparation of contract drawings utilizing Microstation

  • Review of contractor submitted Shop drawings

  • Preparation of inspection reports and design specifications

  • Assist in maintaining project documentation

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or related field

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mathcad, MicroStation or AutoCAD software and be familiar with at least one structural analysis software package

  • Basic knowledge of some industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as LEAP, MicroStation, MathCAD, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)

  • Some working familiarity with GDOT is preferred

  • Candidate should be detail oriented and should have strong skills in structural analysis, steel and concrete design; and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willing desire to learn

  • Passed FE Exam, or able to obtain FE within 1 year of hire.

  • Interest in Transportation design project

  • Willingness to travel (if and when required)

  • Previous intern/coop/work experience in bridge design is preferred
