The Design and Consulting Services Group (DCS) of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and experienced Structural Engineer for immediate employment. Qualified applicants will have a combination of knowledge and skills with the layout and design of hydraulic structures, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and other related structures. Including experience with industry standards and requirements for hydraulic structures.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for the Northwest Water - Structural Engineering group. Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
Planning and developing engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
Liaising with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
Working under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Managing a group of engineers and/or technicians and coordinating activities of the unit.Anchor
Responsible for design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
Delegating overseeing and reviewing work prepared by other engineers within the department.
Developing structural technical specifications, plans, and details.
Preparing or leading engineering related calculations.
Verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices. As necessary, modifying established guidelines, devising new approaches, applying existing criteria in new ways and drawing conclusions from comparative situations.
Coordinating with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Performing condition assessments and site visits as needed.
Independently performing most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected and may be the first level of direct and sustained supervision of other engineers or technicians.
Providing specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Developing study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.
Developing construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Using expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Performing quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Providing input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
10+ years of experience
Washington State PE License
Knowledge of concrete and structural steel design
Experience in the design of hydraulic structures
Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as SAP, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The ability to work with, interpret, and apply national and local building, and hydraulic structures related codes
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines
Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment
Master's Degree preferred
20+ years of hydropower project experience
Knowledge of Non-linear Modeling and Analysis of Water Structures
Knowledge and experience with CAD and REVIT
Experience with the design and detailing of equipment supports, pipe supports and performance specified systems including concrete and steel tanks.
Business development experience including client relations, proposal preparation, and profession
