AECOM Traffic Engineering Lead in Seattle, Washington

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and highly talented Senior Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in one of our offices located in Portland or Seattle to serve as our Traffic Engineering Department Manager in the Northwest. AECOM’s local and national network of talented professionals supports a wide-range of public and private sector clients and project types. This position is part of the Northwest transportation business leadership team and will lead, mentor, coordinate and work alongside the Northwest Traffic Engineering team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage, lead, train, and work alongside a skilled and diverse workforce in several Northwest offices

  • Serve as an AECOM project manager for traffic engineering contracts, upon obtaining AECOM certification

  • Develop plans, specifications, estimates and other project deliverables

  • Adapt and evolve team capabilities to meet changes in client needs, markets, and technologies

  • Business development including growing client relationships, securing projects and recruiting talent

  • Write a variety of technical reports and conduct presentations

Projects may involve:

  • Transportation studies including corridors, interchanges, signal system operations, site development and safety analyses

  • Standalone design projects ranging from traffic signal systems, maintenance of traffic plans, signing, and pavement markings

  • Public agency support service contracts providing a wide range of traffic engineering services

  • Traffic engineering services for a wide-range and scale of highway, bridge and Intelligent Transportation System

  • Active transportation system management and operations related services

  • Opportunities to work individually, or as a team, on several local, state, national and global projects of significance

  • Microstation, AutoCAD, Traffic Modeling, Economic Analysis and GIS modeling

Additional job responsibilities include:

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Approves and signs off on work.

  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.

  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.

  • Participates in development of technical proposals.

  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS plus 8 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated the equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical field (Civil, Electrical Engineering or related field)

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Oregon or Washington Professional Engineers License or ability to obtain license within six months

  • Project management and/or key technical team/task leadership experience

  • Traffic engineering design experience with a State Department of Transportation, or similar

  • Understanding of relevant federal and state policies

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
