AECOM VP, Region Practice Lead, Environment Planning & Permitting (EPP), U.S in Seattle, Washington
Job Summary
AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to lead our Environment Planning & Permitting (EPP) practice for the U.S. West region.
By anticipating and addressing permit requirements early in project design, we help implement permitting strategy, schedule, and mitigation plans that expedite permit acquisition and compliance. Our expert regulatory negotiations throughout the project lifecycle help resolve technical issues and develop favorable permit conditions while maintaining project schedules and ensuring compliance.
We resolve impact assessment and permitting needs associated with air quality, water, wetlands, cultural issues, public health, and stakeholder concerns across a wide range of federal, state, and local programs and requirements for numerous energy, industrial, waste disposal, utilities, and developer clients worldwide.
Responsible for the overall performance for the EPP Practice, the Regional Practice Leader provides practice based business leadership, developing a staff of seller doers and driving growth. This role can be based out of any of our offices in the U.S. West region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Business Development:
Focus resources and BD spend on strategic/ targeted clients that have the greatest potential for revenue growth, attractive pricing and long-term repeat business
Raise the profile of the Practice across the region as the leading provider of environmental solutions to regulators, clients and potential employees
Develop a team and culture of seller-doers through the Department Managers and Team Leaders to secure projects from targeted clients
Work with Americas Practice Directors, Market Sector Directors and Regional BD to develop, capture, and grow market share for the Practice across the Region
Foster a rigorous Go/No-Go decision framework to prioritize BD investment
Actively seek to maximize pricing through project fee type, basis of underlying rates and approach
Champion internal, cross business line collaboration to showcase AECOM’s ability to provide outstanding all-around client service
Leadership:

Lead the EPP team by focusing on short and long term objectives around people, projects, and operations.
Conduct routine check-ins with direct reports to drive engagement, assess performance where needed, and discuss career planning and objectives.
Connect with team members via skip level calls and townhall meetings to promote retention and engagement
Foster career development for employee engagement and retention throughout the practice
Develop and continue to assess succession plan for self, department managers, team leads and other critical roles across the department
Foster an environment where employees are empowered and engaged to do their best work. Minimize employee turnover and work to grow headcount.
Cascade communications regarding the business/practice to teams in a timely manner and provide opportunity for feedback/discussion. Provide feedback to RPL on the input from and engagement of direct reports.
Operations:
Adapt to changing business conditions to optimize operating performance for the practice and achieve fiscal year plan objectives
Ensure department managers are managing teams and workloads appropriately; collaborate with other teams/practices to workshare when appropriate
Partner with operations and project team to mitigate risk.
Partner with RBLL and Operations Leader to deliver on all KPIs (Revenue Growth, EBITA, Utilization, Staff Engagement Scores, Hiring, Turnover, Safety, Quality)
Achieve practice’s gross hiring targets; support centralized hiring program.
Apply best practices to project delivery by leveraging business line practices, centers of excellence, technology, and standard methodologies

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in planning, Science or Engineering in relevant field
20+ years related experience including 8+ years business development, operations management, profit & loss, and leading teams
Extensive experience in driving growth, developing strategy, generating sales,
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing a business of comparable size, with background in environmental planning.
Ability to drive change
