AECOM Science Intern in Tampa, Florida

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Science Intern to be based in Orlando, FL or Tampa, FL.

This position is expected to begin in February 2022.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathering, organizing, and analyzing field data to be used in the preparation of scientific reports

  • Conducting environmental impact assessments and field surveys for rare, threatened, or endangered species and their habitats

  • Conducting habitat assessments and vegetation classifications, including wetland delineations

  • Preparing high-quality technical reports and environmental permit application packages

  • May require working long field days outdoors, sometimes under rigorous conditions (e.g., hot and/or rainy weather, remote areas, in a variety of habitats)

  • Occasional Travel within Florida

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, or other closely related fields.

  • A valid US Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with field data collection, data review, and preparation of technical documents

  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state environmental laws and regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, NEPA, etc.) as they relate to biological resource impacts and environmental permitting

  • Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail, good time-use skills, and ability to work in a team environment

  • Excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to handle the demands of multiple priorities for various clients and projects

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

  • This position may be subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position

  • Some travel is required for this position
