Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Design Engineer to be based in Florida.

The Tampa Surface Transportation-Highway Department is actively seeking a proven Traffic Design Engineer who can combine their technical skills with results-driven leadership to deliver projects for AECOM Florida clients.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform and/or oversee work, including traffic signal design, and signing and pavement marking design for projects throughout Florida

  • Interact with clients for ongoing projects and project pursuits

  • Participate in marketing for project pursuits, including written and oral proposals

  • Collaborate with AECOM staff and mentor junior staff

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • Four (4) + years of relevant experience in traffic engineering

  • Experience in traffic operational analysis including traffic signal warrants, traffic signal and pedestrian crossing control system analysis, and design; and traffic signing and pavement marking analysis and design

  • The right balance of management, technical skills, and experience serving internal and external clients

  • Proficient in: MicroStation, Synchro, SimTraffic, GuideSign, or other similar applications

  • Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • Professional Engineer License in the State of Florida, or the ability to obtain license within 6 months

  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification

  • Six (6) + years of relevant experience

  • Experience in the design of ITS system construction plans for ITS device placement and communications on Florida arterial, interstate, and limited access corridors

  • Experience in roadway lighting design

  • Experience in FDOT design-bid-build projects and design-build projects
