Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Geotechnical Engineer to be located in Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct construction observations, reporting of daily construction and field operations, lead geotechnical field explorations, collect geotechnical samples, review of Geotechnical data, perform Geotechnical analysis, and report writing

  • Prepare draft RFI responses, technical proposals, reports, regulatory agency permits, as well as external and internal documents.

  • Review construction and geotechnical documents provided by the contractor

  • Develop tangible engineering design skills through field experience. This may include construction support (verification of design implementation, adherence to quality, contractor/owner engagement), site inspections, and Geotechnical investigations. Also provide construction support from the office by adapting designs to field conditions.

  • Recognize potential opportunities for additional work within an existing project or for an existing client.

  • Review design plans and specifications and for compliance with geotechnical recommendations and communicate with multiple disciplines and provide design improvement recommendations.

  • May lead staff level engineers on one or more projects.

  • Candidate will have an opportunity to be involved in the construction of in-house designs, which will build on existing client relationships and lead to future projects.

  • Mentor and train geotechnical engineers.

  • Project management – tracking scope, schedule and budget

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.

  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology preferred.

  • 12 years of related experience in Geotechnical Engineering projects

  • Arizona PE license or ability to obtain Arizona PE license within 6 months

  • Solid understanding of performing and managing field work

  • Project management experience

  • The ability to work well within a team

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

  • Experience using geotechnical software.

  • Relocation is available for this position.

  • Project site travel is required for this role as needed. (est. up to 33%)

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $95,000.00 - $129,500.00.
