Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Architect for our Virginia Beach, VA office.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the following items:
Responsible for providing architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and recommendations for a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline within the schedules and budget of an assigned project.
May manage various size groups of architects, designers, and/or specialists
May work on modest to large scale size projects and/or assist Project Architectural or Engineering Managers
As part of a design team, will independently produce creative, functional, and innovative designs for Federal/DOD clients and collaborate with management on the preparation of project proposals and feasibility studies
Provide support and leadership to the assigned Architectural project team on all phases of building design projects as required
Leading a multi-disciplinary team in the preparation of detailed architectural and engineering designs and specifications
Meet with clients to discuss potential new work and/or review project requirements
Preparation of design and contract documents, document checking, managing construction review, and contract administration throughout the duration of a project
Communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related degree plus six (6) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
U.S. Citizenship is required
Must be a Licensed Architect
Preferred Qualifications
Eight (8) years of Architectural design experience in a consulting capacity, including experience working on Federal/DOD projects
LEED certification and project experience is a strong asset
Thorough knowledge of building systems and construction detailing
Strong, hands-on technical knowledge, document review, consultant coordination and experience in field review and contract administration
Demonstrated strong creativity in design
Exceptional technical knowledge of building construction and the Building Code
Ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations
Desire to be mentored by leadership and provide mentorship to junior staff
Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, BIM 360, SketchUp
Experience with Bluebeam, Navisworks and Dynamo
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and other post process and presentation graphic software
Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
State Department OBO, Justice & Public Safety, and Local Municipal experience
