AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, creative, highly talented Safety Service Patrol Mechanic for immediate employment in the Virginia Beach, VA office.This position will be a direct report to the Regional Safety Service Patrol (SSP) Manager with direct staff communications throughout their region of responsibility.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment vehicles such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, and wheel balances.
Inspection of fleet to ensure readiness and availability of vehicle
Analyze, perform diagnostic testing and repair of fleet vehicles
Knowledge of status and operations of fleet vehicles
Completion and upkeep of vehicular files containing history of performed maintenance and repairs
Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives post repair to confirm mechanical soundness
Isolate cause of fleet malfunctions and make corrective repair to various systems or schedule repairs at expanded repair shop.
Maintain up-to-date training and certifications
Other ad-hoc initiatives as assigned by the Project Management Team

High School Diploma
Be a minimum of 18 years of age
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Virginia Department of Transportation fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
Possess a valid Virginia Class D License and a clean driving record in the last 7 years, including no suspension of license or single violation that Virginia Motor Vehicle treats as worth 6 demerits
Employees must also participate in monthly MVR monitoring program and maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of employment
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and successfully participate in the program’s mandatory random drug screening process
Proven ability to manage tasks in a professional manner
Demonstrated professional maturity
Proven ability to manage time and tasks professionally
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments. Position requires frequent lifting of less than 25 pounds; often performing work with arms above shoulder level, repetitive bending/stooping, standing/walking, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), operation of vehicles, keyboard/mouse operations, and performing repetitive fine hand movements; occasionally working in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, work in confined spaces, and lifting 25–50 pounds; rarely climbing stairs, and lifting of 50-75 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including safety shoes/boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
High degree of autonomy in carrying out responsibilities requires a strong sense of judgement and self-motivation to perform, while also working in a team, collaborative environment
Ability to work alternate work schedules in support of 24/7/365 operation center; Schedules are dictated by need of operation and stated in advance. Schedules will vary.
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification
Geographic familiarity with regional freeway system and arterial roads
Radio and telecommunications experience
