Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated and experienced Water/Wastewater Construction Manager to join our expanding water engineering practice. The selected candidate will become part of an established water engineering practice working on prominent water and wastewater treatment, sewer collection, potable water distribution and storage, and pumping station projects in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

Candidate will manage, plan, and lead construction management projects for water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, sanitary sewer collection systems (including large diameter pipe), force mains, interceptors, water distribution systems, green infrastructure, as well as reservoirs.

Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Monitor onsite construction activities including but not limited to, verification of Contractor materials and equipment, Contractor invoices pertaining to materials, and progress and completion dates of onsite construction work.

  • Coordinate with client Operations & Maintenance staff and other project stakeholders.

  • Conduct job site meetings with the Contractor including weekly progress meetings, quality, scheduling and phasing, payment, and other coordination of field activities as they occur.

  • Provide recommendations and documentation regarding: Contract disputes, Schedule Variances, Change Orders (CO) and Proposed Change Orders(PCO), Liquidated damages, Engineer potential errors and omissions.

  • Participate in risk analyses and identification of mitigation strategies.

  • Review and provide input to client on the adequacy of Contractors’ personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies.

  • Receive, track, and monitor Contractors’ submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs) to and from responding parties using Document Management programs. Report submittal and RFI status to client. Update and maintain submittal and RFI Logs.

  • Verify and recommend approval of Contractors’ progress payments. Update and maintain Payment Log.

  • Monitor Contractors’ conformance with quality requirements.

  • Coordinate with inspectors on the development of a list of deficiencies to determine Contractors’ compliance and completion of work. Manage the correction of such deficiencies and maintain Deficiency Log.

  • Prepare Monthly Progress Reports for clients regarding milestones and status of project.

  • Review the Contractors’ Daily Reports for accuracy and completeness.

  • Coordinate start-up, testing and commissioning of process mechanical systems with the Contractor and the Client.

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to subordinate staff, enforce company and project policies, maintain close client interface, and ensure all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Degree in civil engineering or related engineering field

  • 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Experience with Municipal Water/Wastewater clients in the Washington, DC area

  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations for water/wastewater

  • Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Unifier, e-Builder, CM14, and P6 Scheduling Software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in the District of Columbia or Maryland

  • 10 - 15 years of related experience

  • CCM Credential

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $170,000.00.
