Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, creative, highly talented Wastewater Engineer III for immediate employment in the Washington, D.C office. This is a full-time position at the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate’s experience will include a combination of project/task engineering, client interface, presentation and report preparation, and responsibilities in the preparation of workplans, studies, designs, permitting and construction phase services.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of technical reports, data analysis, and evaluation of technical alternatives

  • Development of concept designs, management of final designs and providing engineering services during construction

  • Oversight of inspection activities and condition evaluations of municipal infrastructure and facilities

  • Development of work plans (scope, schedule, and budget) and executing with reporting requirements

  • Coordinating with other team members during project or task execution

  • Process modeling and concept layout of various unit processes and related improvements

  • Identification and acquisition of construction permits from local jurisdictions and environmental regulatory agencies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering

  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in a combination of project/program management and wastewater treatment planning and design projects

  • PE registration in D.C. or the ability to obtain within 2 years of hire

  • Demonstrated technical and project management progression working with the bureaucratic demands of government contracts, and/or local utilities contracts

  • Experience in the design/construction of water/wastewater projects

  • Ownership and accountability for quality deliverables

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate the technical aspects of projects to a wide audience, including senior levels of the client utility organization

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multi-disciplined team members; and experience working effectively on multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Geographic Information Systems

  • Proficiency in process modeling software such as Biowin, GPS-X, a plus
