AECOM Construction Inspector in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, creative, highly talented Construction Inspector for employment beginning in February 2021. This individual supports the Construction Management Quality Assurance Team by providing quality assurance inspections of a federal construction project in Wilmington, NC.

Job Details

In this position the individual will be responsible to review, interpret and understand contract documents, submittals, RFI’s and change documents associated with the construction project. In addition, the individual is responsible to be familiar with applicable building codes and requirements. Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties. Performs field inspections and/or audit duties and maintains inspection records. Ensures all contract documents represented by working drawings and specifications are properly executed.

  • Construction drawing and specification review

  • Shop Drawing review

  • Inspection of construction activity for compliance with contract documents

  • Inspection of construction activity for compliance applicable codes

  • Inspection of construction activity for adherence to industry standards

  • Inspection of materials, workmanship, and installation of various systems

  • RFI review and posting

  • Change document review and posting

  • As-built and record drawing maintenance

  • Maintenance of nonconformance log

  • Meeting attendance and participation

  • Preparation of daily reports and other inspection documents

  • Develop cost estimates for construction cost changes, perform material takeoffs, and assist in negotiation of equitable contract adjustments

  • Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including a background of familiarity with OSHA safety requirements on construction projects

  • Monitor Daily Field Safety

Minimum Requirements

  • HS + two (2) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Ability to work in a field office on the jobsite is required

  • Ability to acquire federal security clearance is required

  • Ability to climb ladders and utilize other temporary construction facilities is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the use of various software including Microsoft Office products, Bluebeam and other PM Software is a plus
